Condition
The book is stained along the margins with humidity and dirt. The sewing has been repaired using a thread of vegetal origin in order to reinforce the original one of animal origin. The lower board has been repaired joining together two different kinds of wood thanks to vegetal thread. The two parts don't match perfectly along the fracture. The leather that covers the spine and part of the boards seems to have been added later as reparation intervention.
Binding
Ethiopic bookbinding with wooden boards and quarter leather cover.
The upper board is made of a dark brown wood. The lower board is composed by two pieces of wood held together with vegetal thread passing through holes created on both sides. The external half is made of the same kind of wood of the upper board but the grain is horizontal. The inner half is made by a brown-reddish wood. Probably both boards are not original and they have been reused. A quarter cover made of yellowish-brown leather is glued onto the spine. It is decorated with forming six rectangular frames in which they cross each other diagonally. At intersections double circles are found. The spine is decorated with triple straight lines crossing each other diagonally. Slit-braid endbands are present and sewn to the bookblock with a thread of animal origin. The headband is sewn starting from the upper board, linking the braid to the first sewing station while the tailband is sewn starting from the lower board, linking the braid to the last sewing station. The sewing ends inside the closest quire.Sewing Stations

Pricking
- (Subtype: pattern) The layout corresponds to the pattern I defined by D. Nosnitsin: the text is written above the first ruled line, the vertical and horizontal pricks are visible and they are located in the margins.
- (Subtype: pattern) The layout corresponds to the pattern I defined by D. Nosnitsin: the text is written above the first ruled line, the vertical and horizontal pricks are visible and they are located in the margins. The ruling is done on the flesh side and probably, the pricking was made opening the quire in the middle and piercing the folios together. The ruling doesn't often match the pricks and additional lines can be added above or below the ruled area.
