Condition
The front board is linked to the text block only at the third and fourth sewing station. The margins of the leaves that are not protected by the wooden boards are damaged. Stains of dirt and water are present.
Binding
Ethiopic bookbinding with plain wooden boards preserved in its slip case.
The boards, smaller than the bookblock, could have been reused from another codex. The inner surface of the boards is plain and well smoothed while on the outer side the signs of the tool are visible.Sewing Stations
4 Small holes are present close to the head and tail of the quires, probably remains of the tackets. Quires 1, 10 and 11 have additional holes, perhaps traces of a previous sewing or errors occurred during the preparation of the quires. The inner surface of the front board is covered with paper. Traces of paper are found also on the external surface. The book is kept inside its two-parts slip case, made of stiff leather. Various red threads are sewn into the corners of check the viewerfolss. 1r, 30r, 48r, 50r, while on fols. check the viewer26, 56, 59 just the holes are left. A white thread is looped around the first chain-stitch on the spine and used as bookmark.Binding material
