Condition
The link between the third chain-stitch and the front board is broken. The leaves are intact. The parchment is of medium quality: hairs and fat haven't been completely removed during the scraping of the skin. Tears occurred during the manufacture have been repaired using a thread of animal origin.
Binding
Ethiopic bookbinding with fine tooled leather cover.
Two boards of the same light brown wood. The space between the turn-ins on the inner surface of the boards is left uncovered. Fine blind tooled red-brownish leather cover. The upper and lower board, the spine and the turn-ins are decorated. The decoration is identical on both sides of the cover. Five frames surround a central panel with a diamond-shaped cross. The frames, enclosed between triple straight lines, are composed by the repetition of single tools, alternated with empty frames. The outer frame is formed by a criss-cross motif. The middle one is composed by straight strapwork elements. The inner frame is formed by dotted lines arranged in a V-form motif. Double circles decorate the surface, printed at the intersection of the three straight lines or in group of four in the empy frames. The same tool is present also in the central panel at the end of the arms of the cross. The spine is decorated with triple straight lines crossing each other diagonally. The turn-ins are 60 mm wide and an additional leather patch covers the inner border of the wooden board. The turn-ins are decorated with triple straight lines forming concentric frames. Slit-braid endbands are present but they are very deteriorated, only their extensions between the boards and the text block are well preserved. They are sewn to the codex with a thread of animal origin. The headband is sewn starting from the front cover while the tailband is sewn starting from the back cover. In the end, the thread is knotted to the closest sewing station.Sewing Stations
4 On the spine is glued a piece of paper with the signature "Scrinio 130". One leaf has been added in the first quire as endleaf.Binding decoration
The box where the codex is preserved contains also a letter with the details of the purchase.

Pricking
- (Subtype: pattern) The layout corresponds to the pattern I defined by D. Nosnitsin: the text is written above the first ruled line, the vertical and horizontal pricks are visible and they are located in the margins. Probably, the pricking was made opening the quire in the middle and piercing the folios together. Indeed, the pricks are more marked in the internal bifolio than in the outer.
