According to R. Cowley, this is a collection of commentaries on Old Testament books (from Genesis to Ruth) in Gǝʿǝz and Amharic with parts showing great variability, but also sharing a common core. 'The monk Yǝsḥaq', which appears to be the name of the compiler ( ዘአስተጋባእክዎ፡) of the work Interpretation and Symbolic Commentary on Genesis and Exodus element TEI with id LIT4117Interpretation is mentioned in only one of the known witnesses (Paris, Bibliothèque nationale de France, BnF Éthiopien d'Abbadie 39.
