Late 19th cent. (?) On check the viewer158rb , at the end of the “Homily on the teaching of the Fathers Apostles” (in Text I-9), a note mentions King Yoḥannǝs (probably Yoḥannǝs IV, r. 1872-89), during whose time the homily was translated (s. “other details”).Provenance
The name of the donor (?), written in red, was washed out in the supplication formulas (e.g., check the viewer12vb , 12ra, 13vc, 69va, 90ra, 128vc). The name of Baḥra Śǝllāse is written, in red, in a secondary hand in the supplication formula on check the viewer7va .

Subscription (Gǝʿǝz ):ወተተርጉመት፡ ዛቲ: መጽሐፍ፡ እምዐረቢ፡ ለግእዝ፡ በዓመተ፡ ምሕረት፡ እንዘ፡ ንጉሥነ። ዮሐንስ። subscriptio on the translation of the text from Arabic into Gǝʿǝz, during the time of King Yoḥannǝs (probably Yoḥannǝs IV, r. 1872-89). It seems that the original date of the translation according to the “year of mercy” has been dropped; the indication to King Yoḥannǝs may refer not to the translation date but to the time when the the Ms. was produced.

The binding is damaged. The sewing is partly missing. Some of the quires were misplaced, possibly during a resewing: quires VI and VII and quires X and XI; as a conseguence the fols. in Texts I-4, I-5 and I-6 are in disorder. Most of the fols. are worn and affected by humidity. Holes on check the viewer11 , 37, 60, 112, 133; tear or hole amended on check the viewer117 .
