Condition
Ms. UM-50a is the fragment of a Four Gospel book, with the binding which embraces, apart from that, fragments of 10 different Mss. (described as UM-050). Threads of the sewing, spine and endbands are missing. Separate leaves and quires are loosely put between the boards. The edges of some leaves are worn and damaged. The major part of the Gospel texts is missing. Some leaves are falling apart along the vertical ruling lines (s. fols. 4, 5, 9, 10, 26). check the viewer42 is falling apart along horizontal ruling lines; tears on check the viewer17 , 38, along the vertical outer ruling lines are repaired by crude stitches.
Binding
Two wooden boards (the front board is cracked and repaired), half of the outer side and the entire inner side of the front board are covered with dark brown untooled leather (ca. 70%).

Short parchment guards are sewn in the middle of quire I to strengthen the fold; parchment guards reinforce also quires A and II.
