In a few cases (e.g., check the viewer11ra , ll.5-7) ʾabbā Ṗeṭros is mentioned as the metropolitan (1881-1917) and ʾabbā Luqas as the bishop (1881-ca. 1901). On check the viewer11ra , l.17 both Yoḥannǝs (1872-89) and Mǝnilǝk (1878-89 king of Šäwa; 1889-1913 emperor; here spelt Mǝnyǝlǝk, with the superscript last letter) are mentioned as kings.Summary

A mixture of Gǝʿǝz and Amharic; written in violet ink. -
– 2rb, l.4: Prayer (plea to God for the salvation of his servant Kidāna Māryām).
The text consists mostly of enumeration of various biblical personages saved by God from their enemies. After erroneously mentioning the salvation of Noah from Sodom and Gomorra, the scribe has drawn a line and begun writing the text anew. For the most part the text is in Amharic, with only the opening and the concluding supplications in Gǝʿǝz. -

Rubrication: First words (sometimes first lines) of constituent texts; name of the Virgin Mary; names of the kings, metropolitan and bishop; most abbreviations; elements of the punctuation signs; some of the musical notation signs above the lines; elements of Ethiopic numerals. Initial parts of larger texts are written in alternating red and black lines (e.g., fols. 3r, 45r). The donor’s name is mostly written in violet ink.
