Original Location: Bäʿatti Qǝddus Mikāʾel / DMB↗
Additio 1 mentions King Mǝnilǝk (r. 1889-1913) and Metropolitan Ṗeṭros (in tenure 1881-1917). Additio 1 refers to the year of Mark the Evangelist. This means that the Ms. could have been written in years 1889/90, 1897/98, 1905/6 or 1912/13(cp. ChChron 219).Provenance
Commissioned by Gabra ʾƎgziʾabǝḥer, according to Additione 1 and 2. Besides, Additio 1 and 2 mentions names of other individuals (probably his relatives): Walda Sǝmʿon, Walatta Mikāʾel, ʿAmda Mikāʾel, Mazgaba Śǝllāse, Walda Yoḥannǝs, Takla Hāymānot, Walatta Yoḥannǝs, Walatta Giyorgis, ʾAmata ʾIyasus, Walatta ʾAbiyä ʾƎgziʾ, Walatta ʾAbiyä ʾƎgziʾ, Walatta Ṣādǝqān, Walatta Madḫǝn. Some of these names are also mentioned in the supplication formulas, at the end of several sub-sections (s., e.g., check the viewer7va , 16va), added in a different hand.

Concerning the introduction, the contents and the postscript of the Gospels, cp. R. ZUURMOND, Novum Testamentum Aethiopice: the Synoptic Gospels, Part I: General Introduction, Part II: Edition of the Gospel of Mark, Stuttgart 1989 (AeF 27), 1-31. The lists of the “Tituli” for the Gospels of Matthew and Luke are missing. The Gospels of Mark, Luke and John are introduced by “Opening Lines” which include a blessing (s. in check the viewer53ra b, 78rab, 114ra [ls. 1-6]). In the Gospels of Mark and of Luke these lines are separated from the main text by a sequence of nine dot asterisks. Concerning the “Opening Lines”, cp. R. ZUURMOND, Novum Testamentum Aethiopice: the Synoptic Gospels, Part I: General Introduction, (AeF 27), 23-24. The postscripts for all the Gospels include a note on their date of origin.

May you, my fathers and my brothers, priests and deacons, not forget (to pray) for my sake! The note is an abridged version of the note in : it states that the manuscript was initially property of Gabra ʾƎgziʾabǝḥer who donated it to the tabot of the church of Mikāʾel Bäʾatti. It repeats the same names of the relatives of the donor. -
