The note, dated to 1923 year of mercy (=1930/31 A.D.), contains names of the judge, parties involved in the trial, witnesses and guarantors as well as the matter in dispute and the verdict. It is written in Amharic, by a well-trained hand. -

v: Land grant issued by King Mǝnilǝk II for
rās Mängäša Yoḥannǝs’ children. The text runs as follows: 193r, 193v, 192r. The document, dated to 1889 years of mercy, gives a list of lands in various parts of Tǝgray (32 places) which King Mǝnilǝk II donated as gʷǝlt and rǝst to rās Mängäša Yoḥannǝs’ two children after the battle of ʿAdwā (1896). In the beginning, it mentions the invasion of Italians and their defeat at ʿAdwā. It is written in Amharic, in a well-trained hand. There is a stamp of King Mǝnilǝk II on . -

The back board is broken and repaired. The headband is torn off. The text block is loosely attached to the boards. The overback is torn and carefully amended. Some fols. are affected by humidity. Holes are carefully amended on check the viewer75 , 109, 174 and 175. The spine cover has been damaged and carefully repaired.

Two wooden boards (the back board is broken and repaired) covered with brown blind tooled leather (quarter cover). Three pairs of sewing stations.
