Origin
Original Location: Golʿa Dabra Bǝrhān Yoḥannǝs↗
The colophon states that the Ms. was written in 7264 after the creation of the world (= 1772 A.D.), at the time of King Takla Hāymānot (II; r. 1769-77) and Metropolitan ʾIyosʾab (in tenure 1770-1803).Provenance
The name of the original donor has been erased from the supplication formulas. In Additio 2, ʾAmata Ṣǝyon is mentioned as the donor. In Additio 1, apart from ʾAmata Ṣǝyon, various individuals are mentioned: Takla Mikāʾel, Märʿatä Wängel, Walatta Ṣǝyon, Gabra Mikāʾel, Takla Hāymānot, Zarʾa Yāʿqob, Laʾkä Māryām, Gabra Ḥǝywat, Walatta Qǝddusan, Walatta Yoḥannǝs, Walatta Kidān with her husband Gabra Śǝllāse, Walda Mikāʾel. These names have been inserted over erasures, in a secondary hand, in dark vermillion ink (the same as Additiones 1 and 2) in the supplication formulas (e.g., on check the viewer2ra , 5rb, 7vb, 9rb, 11ra). In three cases (check the viewer124rb , 125va, 128vb), however, part of the name in the supplication formula (Mikāʾel) is written in the main hand, in strong vermillion or brilliant vermillion ink (yet, the first part, Takla, is written in same hand and ink as Additiones 1 and 2).
